PLDT High Speed Hitters win their first PVL Championship

Congratulations to the PLDT High Speed Hitters for winning the PVL on Tour championship! This title comes with many firsts. Not only is it the first PVL championship of the team, it is actually their first podium finish. It is the first ever championship of Kath Arado ever since her collegiate days in UE. It is also the first ever PVL title of former DLSU players Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Kim Kianna Dy, and Majoy Baron (they all won multiple championships in PSL and even in the UAAP but up until now, they hadn't won a PVL trophy). As if that wasn't enough, they did this without losing a single single game, sweeping the entire series. I'm also very happy that Mika Reyes was awarded the Finals MVP. She scored 20 points, with 13 attacks and an amazing 7 blocks. It's nice to also see her playing well again after she sustained a shoulder injury. I've been a the PLDT High Speed Hitters since they joined the PVL in 2021, primarily because of Mika and Kath. The team finished 7th in their debut before finding their rhythm as a team and being a constant threat to the top teams. From 2022 to 2024, they had three 4th place finishes, five 5th place finishes, and one 6th place. They've been close to a podium finish almost every time but they could never quite see things through. Until now. This year, it seems that for the first time in a very long time, everyone in the team was healthy (or healthy enough). And things finally clicked for them. They will now go into the PVL Invitational tournament with a lot of confidence. Hopefully this is a sign of even greater things for them and that they have more podium finishes and win more trophies in the future.
