[Peru] Tunupa in Sacred Valley

We had lunch at Tunupa Valle Restaurant during our tour of the Sacred Valley in Peru. There are two branches of this restaurant (the other one is in Plaza de Armas in Cusco) and our lunch here was included in our tour package.

Tunupa is a buffet restaurant. As such, it was a perfect place for us to eat because we had just spent a lot of energy navigating the very high altitude of Chinchero and we would be spending even more energy later that day in Ollantaytambo.

The buffet spread is pretty good, offering guests a wide variety of food options. It was here that I got to try alpaca meat. It was also during this lunch that my mom and I got to interact a lot more with everyone else in our tour group.

We were given an hour to have lunch before heading to Ollantaytambo so after eating, I decided to explore the area behind the restaurant. You get a glimpse of it from inside and it was very inviting.

As soon as I stepped out into the open area behind the restaurant, I was in awe. The views were very scenic, providing guests with many great photo opportunities. If you aren't into taking photos, it is still a great place to just relax and soak in the amazing atmosphere.

We also got to see a llama...

...and a very fluffy alpaca.

To further add to the charm and beauty of this place, the Urubamba River passes right behind it (or at least I think it's the Urubamba River :)).

Tunupa is highly recommended because of its fantastic location. The fact that it offers a good buffet spread makes it an ideal place to recharge as you tour the Sacred Valley.
