Check out this video of the Philippine Madrigals performing Paraiso. It is absolutely sublime.
Video uploaded on YouTube by Philippine Madrigals
I discovered this when I saw a reel of a short part of this performance in my social media feed. Philippine Madrigals is my favorite choir - I've seen them perform live twice and I have one of their albums - so naturally, I watched the reel and was immediately blown away. So much so that I wanted to see the full version. Thankfully, it was posted on the official YouTube account of Philippine Madrigals. I don't know how many times I ended up playing and replaying this video. They truly are outstanding! Someone commented that this is the music and the performance that you would want to hear welcoming you into heaven and I agree.
I also really love this song that is originally by Smokey Mountain and written by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab. In fact, this arrangement, or at least its build-up in the finale, is similar to the arrangement that Smokey Mountain used when they competed at and won the Tokyo Music Festival in 1992.
This performance makes we wish I could watch the Philippine Madrigals in concert again. Hopefully I will get that chance soon.
