Happy Philippine Independence Day

The Philippines celebrated Independence Day today. It's been 115 years since our Declaration of Independence from Spain back in 1898 in Kawit, Cavite. Once again, Google helped the Philippines commemorate this important historical moment by featuring our national holiday on the main google page. You can see an image of the Aguinaldo shrine complete with a waving Philippine flag. Cool!

Since I was feeling a bit patriotic, I decided to go dig up and listen to "Bayan Ko" online and I found this amazing video. Check it out!

The arrangement has some ethnic elements to it and is sung by the amazing Kuh Ledesma, (and I think she is backed up by the incredible Grace Nono). To make the video even more amazing, it features several breathtakingly beautiful paintings of Fernando Amorsolo. Makes me want to go to our local museums to appreciate more of our local art.

Maligayang Araw ng Kasarinlan, Pilipinas!
